The Rest of the World Requires Voter-IDs

When the court upheld Indiana voter-ID laws in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, even the liberal Supreme Court Justice, John Paul Stevens, wrote that voter-ID laws do not constitute an undue burden on people trying to vote. Yet, liberals continue to think this argument will prevail. While only 18 states have voter-ID laws, Democrats have taken up the fight against voter-ID laws and painted them as racists.

In Hillary Clinton’s camp, George Soros is funding this multi-million dollar crusade against voter-IDs as the New York Times reports. As Soros pays for litigation, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democratic-party chairwoman touts that “photo I.D. laws, we think, are very similar to a poll tax,” and claims Republicans are trying to bring back Jim Crow laws.

However, John Fund National Review columnist writes,

Election observers in other countries find this kind of rhetoric preposterous. Almost all industrialized democracies — and most that are not — require voters to prove their identity before voting.

Fund cites that elections in most other nations require voters to present a photo ID. Fund spoke with Roger Williams, then a member of the U.K. Parliament from the Liberal Democratic party, who said,

I find it bizarre that the U.S. and the United Kingdom are the only industrial democracies that don’t routinely require voters to show an ID. Perhaps that explains why both our countries have persistent problems with voter fraud that is not seen in other advanced nations.

When it comes to confidence in elections and upholding voter integrity, the United States lags behind the rest of the world. Hilary Clinton and her allies in the Democratic party would like to keep voter ID laws a party issue rather than discus how to best run fair elections.

Clinton’s Email Arrangement Was Not ‘Permitted’

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lied about her use of a personal email and private server for official government business, and then deleted thousands of emails. Clinton then falsely claimed the House of Representatives Benghazi Select Committee never subpoenaed her.

Now Clinton attempts to assert her actions were permitted, but this is in direct contradiction to her State Department policies and federal regulations. Clinton stated,

Everything that I did was permitted. There was no law, there was no regulation, there was nothing that did not give me the full authority to decide how I was going to communicate.

However, since 2005, the State Department’s Foreign Affairs manual forbid using private email to transmit “sensitive but classified” agency information according to the Washington Examiner. Since 2009, a federal regulation required Clinton to “ensure that Federal records sent or received on such systems [not operated by the agency] are preserved in the appropriate agency record-keeping system.”

Furthermore, Clinton’s office sent an order to State Department employees on June 28, 2011 instructing,

Avoid conducting official Department business from your personal e-mail accounts.

Then when the American ambassador to Kenya resigned in June 2012, an internal audit indicated

[H]is refusal to accept fully the Department’s decisions on … the nonuse of commercial email for official government business, except in emergencies, is widely known and a source of confusion and discouragement within the embassy community.

The Benghazi Select Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) further highlights,

There are at least three separate legal obligations that should have informed and instructed her not to delete emails or wipe her server clean.

The true remaining question is, “When will Hilary Clinton stop lying about her actions?”

Reports Find Overwhelming Support for Voter ID Laws

First, as Scott Walker stated,

Hillary Clinton's rejection of efforts to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat not only defies logic, but the will of the majority of Americans.

Many reports consistently support the fact that a majority of voters support voter ID laws.

According to a 2015 Rasmussen Report, 76% of voters support showing an ID before casting a ballot. In 2012 the Washington Post found 74% of voters support showing a government issued ID before casting a ballot. Furthermore, Politifact assessed numerous surveys and discovered 70-80% of voters support showing a photo ID before casting a ballot.

Secondly, if the voter ID laws make it harder for people to cheat, then people who do vote can be sure that their vote counts at the ballot. Walker also stated in a 2014 gubernatorial debate,

Amongst us, who would be that one person who would like to have our vote canceled out by a vote that was cast illegally?

In the 2016 election, lets be sure every vote counts.
