Obama Own Justice Department Proves He is Lying

Two former Justice Department employees under President George W. Bush have written articles this week that point out President Obama lied in his state of the union.  President Obama said in his State of the Union stated:
We may go at it in campaign season, but surely we can agree that the right to vote is sacred — (applause) -- that it’s being denied to too many
Republicans and independents certainly agree on this but do Democrats like Obama?   Obama’s Administration which has gone after the First Amendment rights of groups for merely having the words “tea party” in their titles, yet has done nothing, nada, zilch on this topic.  As  Hans Von Spakovsky writes (emphasis ours):

If President Obama really believes his State of the Union claim that the right to vote is still “being denied to too many,” he should give Attorney General Eric Holder a serious dressing-down. According to its own records, the Department of Justice (DOJ) didn’t initiate a single case in 2014 claiming that anyone had denied someone the right to vote.

The few cases that DOJ has filed have been for entirely political purposes regarding Voter ID and have not been successful as Hans further writes.
Indeed, in the area of voter rights, the Voting Section has been conspicuously inactive since 2013, when it sued Texas and North Carolina under Section 2 of the VRA. The North Carolina lawsuit, which claimed state law changes would “suppress” the votes of black residents, is already in trouble. A Wall Street Journal report notes that black registration and turnout in the 2014 election was higher than in the previous midterm contest.
The Justice Department did get an injunction against the Texas voter ID law, but it was overturned by the 5th U.S. Circuit of Appeals, and the law was in place for the 2014 elections with no problems. The experience of other states that have adopted voter ID laws also casts extreme doubt on the legitimacy of the department’s claim that residents are being “denied the right to vote” because of a common-sense reform intended to protect the integrity of the election process.
So why is this happening? Christian Adams in his excellent article explains this:

President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder know how to scare minority voters.  In the State of the Union, Obama spoke of “too many” Americans being denied the right to vote.  He couldn’t name any.  Afterwards, Holder told a Martin Luther King Day celebration at the Justice Department that the “right to vote is under siege.”  If the right to vote is truly under siege, as they claim, Holder’s Justice Department sure hasn’t done much about it. . . .
President Obama and General Holder are crying wolf about threats to voting rights.

Unlike most Americans, to President Obama “Voting Rights” is a purely political tool to be used to advance his own partisan ends.
